Cézanne and Seurat: Painting against the Current of Classical Form and Style
February 26, 2010
Paul Cézanne and Georges Seurat brought back the form and detail to their works that were absent during the Impressionist movement. Though both artists' works show Impressionist influence in their intrepid use of color, it is hard to picture a more dramatic contrast than that between Cézanne's consolidated blocks and Seurat's pointillist dots.
